"Bird in the Hand of God"

Three gourds were used to create this design: one for the hand, another for the bird body and a third gourd for the wings.

While driving home, a dove swooped down in front of my car. There was no way I could avoid hitting the dove. It saddened me to know that I was responsible for its passing. Designing this gourd was my way of honoring the life of the dove.

Upon finishing the design, I was more detached about what happened. I gained a new attitude and viewpoint. The dove simply passed from this life into the Hand of God where all life originates, lives and returns one day.
(The gourd used for the hand is approximately 12 inches tall and 9 inches across.)

               "Just for Love"

This is my largest and thickest gourd to date.  Sassafras wood is used for the base and yes, an electrical cord is attached for the light inside. The middle picture shows the inside of the gourd where there is another heart of gold with the words "Just for Love". The tiny carved heart at the top of the backside is to avoid heat build-up inside from the light. This is a simple but beautiful design that came from within. Anything is easy to accomplish when the motive is "Just for Love".

                                                                           "Gardens"

Newly planted gardens inspired the designs on this 3-sided apple-shaped gourd.  The first side displays a picture of our banana tree. The second side displays basil with lavender colored flowers and 2 golden butterflies. The third side displays clover with pink blossoms. The lid is the shape of a 3-leaf clover.

                                                                                                "Balance"

The front of a greeting card from an endearing friend had this inspirational design of a playful, balanced "happy cat". Her spiritual wisdom and divine love are with me always.

                                                                                                                                           "Just for Fun"

Living in the country among large trees and open fields, this giant
spider was in its element!  Hanging in an archway in front of our home, it brought a few laughs!  The above picture was taken at the Rogers Public Library where the spider was  on display January through February, 2009.
